Description
Apollo Moonscape: An Explorer Artist’s Vision is a masterful canvas that shows how scientist and artist, astronaut Alan Bean sees the moon. He looks at it looks at it in two ways, and the way he remembers it is the way it shows up in the black and white photos taken at the time: “A stark and otherworldly place of gray soil, gray rocks, and black sky.”
As a painter, however, Bean sought to bring out the moon’s beauty through color, and Apollo Moonscape shows Apollo 17 astronaut Gene Cernan in, literally, four different lights.
