Description
Bear Tracks (fine art canvas) by Howard Terpning
Grizzly bears are worthy opponents, and while they have been extinct on the Great Plains for more than 100 years, at the time that these Native Americans were living and hunting, the bear was abundant. A kill would be an honor and a celebration, with a coveted necklace made from the claws, but before that happened, the bear had to be taken down.
Even with a rifle, this was no easy feat, since bears were known to take a bullet or two and still keep charging.
