Cree Finery (fine art print) by Howard Terpning
An elderly Cree woman, set against a backdrop of light and color that is suggestive of original Cree beadwork designs, contemplates the past as she lives in the present. At one time, the Cree Indians lived in the area between the Ottawa and Saskatchewan Rivers in Canada, and they were known for stepping lightly on the land, trappers who were careful and considerate of the animals upon which they depended.
At a reservation in Alberta, Canada, western artist Howard Terpning met a woman from this tribe, her gentle yet noble demeanor representative of her people’s essence of being.
