Description
Dust of Many Pony Soldiers/The Warrior by Howard Terpning
The Sioux Indians were a wise and canny people, and they rapidly acclimated to the use of whatever new technology was made available to them. These three warriors, atop a high hill, view what, beyond the viewers’ site, appears to be a cloud of dust, but which the monocular scope (used by the middle warrior), shows to be an approaching troop of cavalry.
“Born in Illinois and educated at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the American Academy of Art, Terpning first gained attention with his captivating advertising and story illustrations.”
