Guardian of the North Shore by Gary Moss. The lighthouse is the guardian of the ships and their sailors on the north shore of Lake Superior.
Gary Moss studied art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Upon graduation, Gary served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat artist followed by four years working as a graphic designer.
Gary’s love, understanding and regard for wildlife compelled him to devote himself full time to painting which he has done since. A native of Minnesota, Gary works and lives at his studio in Cambridge, Minnesota. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Gary has traveled extensively, sketching and taking photographs, finding inspiration for his realistic wildlife and landscape paintings. From the western U.S. to Africa,
Gary has developed his artistic skill in the detailed depiction of his animals, flowers, and landscapes. He Brings freshness and expressiveness to dog portraiture, capturing the unique personality of each animal in a truly engaging manner.
Gary is the recipient of numerous awards; his work has been displayed in galleries across the country and he has participated in state, national, and international exhibitions.
Awards include: USMC Combat Artist of the year, Best of Show at the Wildlife and Western Show, Minnesota and Teas Duck stamps. He has worked with most of the major wildlife conservation groups.
