If Only in My Dreams by William Phillips
Set in the beginning of World War II, If Only in My Dreams explores the sense of hope and waiting that those still at home held for their loved ones, fighting far away. A poignant view of a nostalgic time, If Only in My Dreams is also William Phillips’ first painting of Phillip’s Bay, the artist’s imaginary, quintessential small town that embraces all the good thing of rural life.
Phillips grew up loving art but never thought he could make it his livelihood. At college he majored in criminology and he had been accepted into law school when four of his paintings were sold at an airport restaurant. That was all the incentive he needed to begin his work as a fine art painter.
