One Man’s Castle by Howard Terpning
A Man’s Home Is His Castle is a phrase familiar to many. In many ways, it doesn’t so much matter what the place actually looks like as that it is a haven from the outside world.
One Man’s Castle is western artist Howard Terpning’s tongue in cheek view of just such a place owned by a white trapper or mountain man, many of whom took Indian wives for companionship and convenience. Howard Terpning believed it represented a scene that could have taken place countless times.
