Description
Savoring the Moment reminds us that when we visit the beach, we leave footprints in the sand, footprints which are quickly obliterated by the wind, tide, and steps of other people.
On the moon, however, there were no footprints until man arrived. Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmitt rests briefly from his mission of scientific exploration to stop and savor the moment, reflecting upon how his footprints, and the signs of man’s presence, will remain long after the space ships leave.
Alan Bean is the most sought after artist when it comes to the moon landing. He is the only artist to paint images from the moon, and he was the fourth person to walk it.
