Shore Birds at Point Lobos by William Phillips
Like shore birds, the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels call the coast their home and like birds as well, skims effortlessly close to the waves and rocky shoreline. Known as the “Ambassadors of Good Will,” this demonstration team consists of the military’s finest pilots, and has been thrilling crowds with their skilled aviation performances since the group’s formation in 1946.
Phillips grew up loving art but never thought he could make it his livelihood. At college he majored in criminology and he had been accepted into law school when four of his paintings were sold at an airport restaurant. That was all the incentive he needed to begin his work as a fine art painter.
