Source of Intelligent Life by Alan Bean.
Alan Bean captures the three-dimensional effect of the highly textured and formed pitted and rocky surface of the moon.
Using replicas of his moon boots as a stamp, Bean pressed footprints onto the textured surface of the original painting to simulate the footprints that remain upon the moon today. Next, he used the same geology hammer he worked with on the Apollo 12 mission to increase textural vitality. Finally, a sharp-edged bit from one of the core tubes makes round indentations, resulting in a truly 3-D look at the moon.
