Larry was born in Deer Creek, Minnesota, a small farming town north of the Twin Cities. His talent for art drew attention early on when his grade school teacher at the one-room schoolhouse put up his painting for the class to admire. After the family moved, Larry went to high school in southern California, them studied art a several colleges, including the University of the Americans in Mexico City. He eventually finished a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Long Beach.
Once he retired from his government job he eventually ended up in Montana. Here he immersed himself in painting Montana as it is and as it was. The thing about Larry’s art that is so inspiring is its ability to pull you into the scene.
