Wright Meets the Coeur d’Alenes by Nona Hengen
Wright’s army arrives at Cataldo, Idaho, September 17, 1858 to hold a council with the Coeur d’Alene tribal leaders. Of this meeting, Father Joset wrote, “…the able manner in which the colonel made the most of his resources, he completely rid the Indians of any desire to measure themselves with the American troops.”
The tensions are high as the meeting takes place with the tribal leaders.
This print is a part of the Steptoe battle series by Nona Hengen, and the confrontations between the Native Americans.
