Description
Young Hearts at Sea (fine art print) by Charles Wysocki
“My Uncle Ted always took me fishing. He picked up my brother and me at about 5:00 in the morning, just when the sun was rising, because that’s when the fish bite best. We went to a place in Michigan called Walnut Lake, to a fishing shack. I have a lot of little memories of that place. It’s a very pleasant memory, and I had a lot of fun painting it. ”
“My uncle would rent a rowboat for the day, and the boat man would say, “You have number three,” or whatever number it was. I thought that instead of having numbered boats, I would use canes, because canoes are more romantic, and i’d put little symbols on them. So now the canoe man could say, “You have the star” or “You have the heart.”
“These are things I remember from when I was young-incidental things that you don’t think are going to stick with you. Then, later on in life, when you start thinking, you say, “I remember that!” and you feel a thrill. I wanted to bring back that memory for everyone.”
